The short version: Open Chiari doesn't know who you are, doesn't use cookies, and never collects health information.

What is counted

To show the totals on the Impact page, the site counts visits and a few actions, such as opening the 3D model or making an Explain It link. Counting uses [analytics service], which uses no cookies and doesn't build a profile of you. It sees which page was visited, the page you came from, your device and browser type, your country, and how fast the page loaded, then adds it to a total.

[Confirm this list against the chosen analytics service before launch.]

What is never collected

Your identity
No accounts, sign-ins, names or email addresses.
Explain It notes
Your note goes in the message you send, not in the link. The link holds only the chosen view, after the #. Browsers don't send that part to our server, and our analytics are set up not to record it.
Visit prep questions
Built and printed entirely in your browser. Nothing you tick or type leaves your device.
Your location
The "Near" box on Research studies sorts the list on your device and is never sent.
Health information
None, anywhere on the site.

Saved on your device

Calm mode and your language choice are remembered in your own browser so they stay on next time. Clearing your browser data removes them. They're never sent to the site.

Outside services

  • Hosting: Cloudflare Pages, which handles the site's traffic like any web host.
  • Fonts and 3D files: served from Open Chiari itself, not from Google or other companies.
  • Research studies: collected from ClinicalTrials.gov, run by the U.S. National Library of Medicine, once a day by the site, so your browser never contacts them.
  • Links out: donate pages, study listings and other sites have their own privacy policies.

Email

If you email [email protected], your message is used only to reply and isn't shared. Please don't include medical details.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes too, and anything significant is noted on the home page for 30 days.
